Masri: Israel’s era of victories is gone

MP Mushir Al-Masri, the secretary-general of Hamas’s parliamentary bloc, said on Monday that the confessions made by Israeli soldiers and officers about the real number of casualties in their ranks during the war on the Gaza Strip confirmed that the era of Israel’s victories is gone and the future is for the Palestinian resistance.
In a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC), Masri said that these confessions added credibility to what Hamas confirmed earlier about large losses in the ranks of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).
The lawmaker underlined that it would have been better if the Israeli leadership had showed courage and honesty from the beginning and conceded defeat instead of lying to their people about their losses in Gaza war.
Writer for Haaretz newspaper Amira Hass said, based on interviews conducted with Israeli soldiers and officers who fought the war, that the death toll and other losses inflicted on the Israeli army exceeded all expectations.
She added that the official information provided by the Israeli government spokespersons about the size of military losses did not reflect what really happened on the ground.
In another context, an Israeli military research revealed Monday by Haaretz newspaper said that Israel’s air force bases might be vulnerable to missile attacks in case a war broke out with Syria and Lebanon.
According to the research, Syria, the Lebanese resistance, Iran and Hamas may try to fire missiles at specific military targets especially the air force bases if Israel declares a war in the northern front against Syria or Lebanon.
The research expected that dozens of missiles might fall on these bases and damage alarm systems and aircraft hangars, the thing which would disrupt work inside the bases unless those bases were provided with emergency plans.
